LAURA INGALLS WILDER: Growing Up on the Prairie
LUFKIN, TX. Laura Ingalls Wilder: Growing Up on the Prairie, a family matinee brings fun for all to the Temple Theater on the Angelina College campus Saturday, March 23rd at 2:30 pm. Based on Wilder’s own childhood experiences, this unique story about Laura focuses on the Ingalls family itself and on the relationships among Laura, her Pa, her Ma, and her older sister Mary, and in fact – those loving bonds were the motivating factors that sparked Laura’s desire to write about her family’s inspiring journey. Angelina Arts Alliance is proud to present this charming musical as part of the 2012-2013 Family Matinee Series, sponsored by Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy and Jordan Family Dentistry. 2012-2013 Season Sponsors are Memorial Health System of East Texas and Brookshire Brothers Food & Pharmacy.
One of the play’s driving themes is the role of the Ingalls parents as they instill in their children love, fairness, confidence, and a sense that anything is possible. Laura Ingalls Wilder: Growing up on the Prairie is a treat for the entire family and recommended for kids age 8-11. Young audiences are delighted with the adventures of the spirited girl and her family as they travel across the unsettled frontier and open prairie of the late-1800s. Many challenges threaten to destroy the family as they search for ‘a little house to call home’, yet through their devotion to each other and an unwavering pioneering spirit, they are able to overcome every challenge. Children will cheer for young Laura while parents will appreciate the positive message and lively score.
Tickets for this one-hour matinee are $5 for kids and $10 for grown-ups. All seating is general admission.
