March 23rd Family Matinee – A Kid-Friendly Musical
LAURA INGALLS WILDER: Growing Up on the Prairie
LUFKIN, TX. It’s a MUSICAL! It’s a FAMILY MATINEE! It’s BOTH! The Temple Theater will be filled with families when the curtain rises on Laura Ingalls Wilder: Growing Up on the Prairie, a family matinee at 2:30 pm on Saturday, March 23rd. Based on Wilder’s childhood experiences, this live musical delights young audiences with the adventures of the spirited pioneer girl and her family as they travel across the unsettled frontier and open prairie of the late-1800s. Many challenges threaten to destroy the family as they search for ‘a little house to call home’, yet through their devotion to each other and an unwavering pioneering spirit, they are able to overcome every challenge. Angelina Arts Alliance is excited to present this story based on Wilder’s own true-to-life experiences–and there’s nothing quite like sharing a live theater performance with your kids.
Laura Ingalls Wilder: Growing up on the Prairie is a treat for the entire family and recommended for kids age 8-11. The musical, produced by ArtsPower National Touring Theater, chronicles the life and times of Laura and her family’s adventures as they travel unknown and often treacherous territory. Facing obstacles such as scarlet fever and eviction from their land, their family bonds are tested but never broken. Children will cheer for young Laura while parents will appreciate the positive message and lively score. Angelina Arts Alliance is proud to present the 2012-2013 Family Matinee Series, sponsored by Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy and Jordan Family Dentistry. Season Sponsors are Memorial Health System of East Texas and Brookshire Brothers Food & Pharmacy.
Tickets for this one-hour matinee are $5 for kids and $10 for grown-ups. All seating is general admission.
