Arts Alliance Executive Director Rick Schiller
To Retire July 1
The Angelina Arts Alliance Board of Directors announces the retirement of its Executive Director Rick Schiller, effective July 1, 2013. Schiller has served in that position for eight-and-a-half years, since his arrival from Austin in January, 2005. “The East Texas community owes a huge debt of gratitude to Rick for his dedication to the performing arts, for his remarkable achievements in bringing top flight talent to the Temple Theater stage, and for his leadership of the Angelina Arts Alliance for the past 8-plus seasons”, observed Mr. Terry Orr, immediate past chairman of the Angelina Arts Alliance. Terry added “His well-known dedication to education has provided many school-age children in our region with unique access to the joys of stage performance and has, no doubt, inspired many of them to pursue their dreams of a career in the performing arts.” Past Chair, Dr. Sid Roberts said “…Rick was a programming wizard, and the Lufkin area has consistently seen the best performances available during his tenure as Executive Director.”
“I am grateful for the opportunity”, says Rick Schiller, “to have been associated with a performing arts organization of such extremely high standards and integrity. I have been honored to work with such a committed Board of Directors over the years and live in this very special community of active arts supporters and wonderful audience members. I know the Arts Alliance will continue to thrive and succeed. On a personal note, I look forward to my retirement and the next adventures which life offers me. I hope to enjoy every moment of it!”
“Each season of the Angelina Arts Alliance is met with great anticipation because of Rick’s passion for bringing the best of the performing arts to East Texas,” commented Joe Loving, Chairman of the Angelina Arts Alliance Board of Directors. “His enthusiasm was infectious, and we are grateful for his outstanding leadership for the past eight seasons. It has been an honor to work alongside Rick on the Arts Alliance board, and we hope to continue his vision as we go forward with the coming season.” Upon Rick Schiller’s departure in July, Managing Director Tracy Pinkerton will continue to manage the Arts Alliance day-to-day operations. Schiller will announce the Arts Alliance’s 2013-14 Season on May 3rd at The Chamber’s First Friday Luncheon at Crown Colony Country Club.
